Installation instructions.

First go to the Java website, download and install the last version of Java. Then download GenBeans installer and double-click to start the installation; follow the instructions to install GenBeans on your computer. Take the Quick Tutorial available from the Help & Tutorials page. This is strongly advised the first time you launch GenBeans to manage sequence files in the Explorer window and manipulate easily nucleotide sequences in the Viewer.

Installation instructions.

Download the binary ZIP file and extract it to any folder on your system. Run the executable file located in the genbeans/bin directory and accept the license agreement.

Installation of Linux. GenBeans 5.3 requires JavaFX to open properly. Before running GenBeans the first time, type on the command line the following and press enter:

sudo apt-get install openjfx

Installation of Mac OS. You may be required to enable or install java at first. Go to Applications ยป Utilities and open the Java Preferences.app. Make sure the checkbox at the top is 'checked' in order to enable Java.You may be asked to install java first. Java can be downloaded from Oracle web site. You can detect which version of java is installed on your computer from Oravle web site here.

If a proper java installation cannot be found, the location can be entered manually. Open the genbeans.conf file located in the genbeans/etc directory in a text editor and enter manually the netbeans_jdkhome property.

Requirements.

Installation requires a minimum configuration with a processor 1 Ghz Intel Pentium III or equivalent, at least 512 MB of memory and 750 MB of disk space is required. A processor 2 GHz Intel Pentium IV or equivalent with 2 GB of memory and 1 GB of free disk space is recommended.

A Java Runtime Environment 1.8 or higher is required.
